How do I Leave a Gift to RSPCA Darwin in my Will?
Your Will is an important document that must be properly prepared and executed. We recommend using a solicitor to ensure your Will is legal and valid. It is very important that you specify RSPCA Northern Territory Incorporated, rather than just ‘RSPCA’ in order to ensure that the funds remain with the local organisation rather than being distributed between the larger states.
Please consider adding the following in your Will to bequeath a gift to RSPCA NT:
I, _______________________________, give and bequeath to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Northern Territory Incorporated, of
80 Boulter Road Berrimah NT 0828 (ABN 42 603 546 873) for the use and purposes of the said Society:
a) the residue (or ____% of the residue) of my estate
b) a ____% of my estate
c) a sum of $__________________
free of all death and estate duties. I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or a Proper Officer of the Society authorised to act on his/her behalf shall be sufficient discharge to my executors.
Leaving a gift in your Will is one of the most valuable and lasting ways you can support the animals of the Northern Territory. There are a number of different ways you can remember RSPCA NT in your Will, depending on your circumstances. This might be in the form of money, property, shares or similar, either as a financial value or a percentage of estate depending on what suits you best.
It is very important to talk to your family and loved ones about your Will. This helps ensure your final wishes are carried out. Let them know that a gift to RSPCA NT is important to you, and advise any executors and guardians of your wishes.

Your gift makes an incredible impact on the lives of animals, as it can be used to:
- provide food, love and shelter for more than 1,000 abandoned and neglected animals until they find forever homes
- provide medical attention and care for the thousands of injured and sick animals who are in desperate need of lifesaving procedures every year
- prevent cruelty through education and community programs that provide guidance and support to people who want to care for their animals, but may not be in the physical or financial state to provide it, such as pet owners experiencing domestic violence, the elderly, socially isolated or the homeless.
If you are interested in leaving a Gift for a specific purpose, such as a building or project, please specify this in your will.
What Qualifies as a Gift?
A gift can be money, property, shares or even life insurance, committed to RSPCA NT through a designation in your Will. Deciding how you wish to divide your estate can be a complex undertaking. We therefore encourage you to consult with a solicitor and other advisors.
